Dr. Reese is an internationally known, award-winning author, motivational speaker, and trainer.  Together with serving successfully as CEO of his own training and consulting firm, James T. Reese and Associates, he has been named a Premier Speaker of the National Center for Crisis Management, adjunct faculty of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, advisor to the International Association of Ethics Trainers, diplomat of the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology, fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and celebrated as a Distinguished “General Graves B. Erskine Series Lecturer."

Among his more than 3,000 awards for speaking, he received the Speaker’s Medal from the World Congress on Stress; the Director of the FBI’s “Award for Distinguished Service”; an honorary Olympic Gold Medal for his assistance at the 2002 Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City; and the “Iron Cross Award” for his assistance at the World Trade Center, beginning the day after the attack on September 11, 2001. In the corporate world, he has received awards from IBM, Alcoa, Westinghouse, and many others.

He has conducted keynotes, seminars, and workshops worldwide before representatives of more than 350 Fortune 500 companies since his FBI retirement in 1995.

Experience and Expertise

Dr. Reese served as a combat platoon leader in Vietnam, logging dozens of combat helicopter assaults and ambushes. He was awarded the United States Bronze Star Medal, the Vietnamese Police Distinguished Service Cross, and other awards. Upon his return from Vietnam, he became an FBI Agent. After years of service working on fugitive squads and swat teams in New York and New England, he was assigned to the FBI Academy where he soon created the stress management program. He also created The University of Virginia’s undergraduate course in stress management. He retired as Assistant Unit Chief of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit at the FBI Academy, Quantico, Virginia. He was an original FBI criminal personality profiler, working with the cast of Silence of the Lambs. Dr. Reese is often quoted on the TV Series “Criminal Minds” where one of their characters allegedly portrays Dr. Reese’s earlier role as a profiler. For 18 years he was adjunct faculty of the University of Virginia and the FBI National Academy.

A pioneer in the interviewing and research of serial criminals, his years as a profiler and exposure to corporate America provide him unequaled credentials to address audiences on essential topics concerning leadership, change, and stress.
